Our Story
Founded in 1982, PAL-TV has been Hobart's home for municipal oddities, civic announcements, and the occasional possum. We are the broadcast identity of the Hobart Municipal Broadcasting Corporation, chartered by Village Ordinance 801.
We were established as a public access broadcaster. We also produce original programming. This technically makes us something else. The FCC has not returned our calls about this. Neither has anyone else.
We are not affiliated with PBS or the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, nor are we permitted to contact them.
Our Mission
PAL-TV exists to broadcast what others will not. Board meetings. Garden debates. Council fights. And various residents yelling into the void.
We operate on the goodwill of volunteers, duct tape, and unreturned extension cords. We are Hobart's mirror, its amplifier, and occasionally, its hum.
Our Staff
PAL-TV is staffed entirely by volunteers, unpaid interns, and at least one person who wandered in during the 1990s and never left. Interested in joining?
